We are advocates, ambitious, humanitarians. We are ready to see change in this world and are eagerly pursuing it. We want these children to experience a sense of normalcy in their sometimes topsey turvey lives. Kay's Carryon On is a non-profit organization is dedicated to transforming the way foster children experience foster care in Texas. This organization provides rolling luggage to foster children who have been displaced due to abandonment, neglect, and abuse. The luggage will be given to foster homes, shelters, foster parents agencies. The luggage replaces the traditional black trash bags which is used to transport their personal items.
We desire to build awareness and volunteer opportunities which will better the lives of children in foster care by providing comfort in a not-so-comfortable situations. We strive to be the helping hand so that youth can "Carry On" in the foster care system so they can move confidently into their future adult lives.
Our History - In November 2018, KaysCarryOn was founded by Kay Kizer while she atended a Women's veteran retreat receiving much needed counseling from her own personal foster care and veteran trauma by being placed in many foster homes. Black bags is what is her memory of how her personal belongings were carried to each of those homes. She considers black bags as a personal "trigger". She has named it "black bag syndrome". In her mind, she visualizes black bags as "trash".
Kay decided that all children in the foster care system deserve a proper way to transport their belongings with dignity without the use of trash bags as the means. There must be a better way.
After telling others about her visions, she was inspired by encouragement from friends and colleagues to use her ambition to help others and start a non-profit organization.
